When Duco provisions credentials for your organization (such as API keys, SFTP access, or database connections), we deliver them securely using 1Password's encrypted sharing links. This guide explains what to expect and how to access your credentials.
Please note that this article does not cover receiving your Duco Platform user credentials. In order to do that, please contact your internal Duco Administrator to assist you with your request.
Requesting your credentials
In order to get credentials to enable or setup the following Duco capabilities:
- API access,
- SFTP access,
- Data Platform access,
please reach out to your Client Success Manager or contact our Support team directly via support@du.co or open a ticket via the Help Centre.
Receiving your credentials
When a support ticket is opened for this request, you will receive your support ticket reference number.
Next, you'll receive an email from Duco containing:
- A secure 1Password sharing link
- Instructions for accessing your credentials
- Service connection details (hostname, port, etc.)
Important: The link expires after 7 days and can only be viewed once for security purposes.
Accessing your credentials
- Check Your Email
Open the email from Duco containing your credential sharing link. Check your spam/junk folder if you don't see it within a few hours of our notification.
- Click the Secure Link
Click the 1Password sharing link in the email. This will open in your web browser.
Note: You do not need a 1Password account to access shared credentials.
- Verify Your Email
1Password will send a verification code to your email address.
- Check your email for the verification code,
- Enter the code when prompted,
- This ensures only the intended recipient can access the credentials.
- View and Save Your Credentials
Once verified, you'll see your credentials displayed securely
- Copy the credentials immediately,
- Store them securely in your organization's password management system,
- The link will expire after viewing (single-use) or after 7 days.
- Test Your Access
Use the provided connection details to verify the credentials work correctly with the Duco service.
Security Information
Your credentials are protected by:
- End-to-end encryption - Credentials are encrypted in transit and at rest
- Email verification - Only verified recipients can access the link
- Time-limited access - Links expire after 7 days
- Single-use links - Links can only be viewed once (when configured)
- Audit logging - All access is logged for security purposes
Troubleshooting
I Can't find the email
- Check spam/junk folders
- Verify with your IT team that emails from 1Password aren't being blocked
- Contact Duco Support referencing your ticket number
The link has expired
- Reply to your support ticket or contact Duco Support
- We'll generate a new link for you
I'm having issues with email verification
- Ensure you're checking the same email address the link was sent to
- Check spam/junk for the verification code
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Contact Duco Support if issues persist
The credentials don't work
After successfully accessing the credentials, if you have connection issues:
- Verify you're using the correct hostname and port provided,
- Check your firewall/network settings,
- Contact Duco Support and provide them with specific error messages.
Best Practices
- Access the credentials as soon as possible after receiving the email
- Store credentials in your organization's secure password management system
- Don't share the 1Password link with others
- Contact us immediately if credentials are compromised
